Color of Law FINAL (2).jpg

The Sylacauga Housing Authority hosted the first annual Fair Housing Symposium. The Symposium was held at the Sylacauga City Schools Board of Education, the symposium provided valuable dialogue regarding fair housing, civil rights, and equal opportunity.

Katie Bibbee, SHA Public Affairs Officer, presented a brief history of fair housing practices and the Fair Housing Act. SHA Chief Housing Officer Daniell Womack presented “What Fair Housing Means to Me”, a powerful personal story touching on the impact of fair housing on her life. The symposium concluded with Steven Hoyt, SHA Planning and Development Officer, hosting a brief question and answer session.

The Sylacauga Housing Authority proudly presented attendees with a copy of "The Color of Law", in order to continue the conversation surrounding fair housing long after the symposium. It proved to be an enriching morning of education, sharing, and fellowship.
